I've been rereading Carol Shields' biography of Jane Austen today. I'm glad that she was published in her lifetime - that all of the condemnation of society from not marrying and having a household and children was finally outweighed by the success of her novels. There must have been so many times that she doubted and feared and sorrowed, but in the end her dedication won out.

On another note: seven siblings?! I can't even imagine.

I just bought my plane tickets today for my spring vacation with K - in Florida! I'm relishing the warmth already. Particularly as I parked out in the north 40 today and am somewhat reluctant to begin the hike to my car. Why must my world be so cold? And possess so few parking spots?

Okay, resolution time!

1. Blog daily! (We'll see how long this lasts.)
2. Exercise more and eat right! (I think this is a requirement for a resolution list.)
3. Write more! (...than last year. Which won't be hard.)
4. Be more social! (Could I be less?)

...Maybe I should also resolve to be less sarcastic. But I like to set somewhat *achievable* goals, y'know?
